SofWave: a Comprehensive Look Into This Anti-ageing Device

SofWave: a Comprehensive Look Into This Anti-ageing Device

Developed by SofWave Medical ltd, the SofWave device is a skin-tightening device that refreshes the skin by stimulating the production of collagen. It reduces wrinkles and fine lines on your skin and lifts the submental, eyebrows, and neck area.1

How does it work?

SofWave is an ultrasonic system with an integrated cooling system that produces High-intensity and Non-Focused Ultrasonic Pulses (HIUS). It raises the temperature to 60–70°C in the dermis layer while protecting the epidermal layer via surface cooling, which causes controlled thermal damage.2

In essence, the dermis sustains minor injuries from the ultrasound, and as the body mends and cures those wounds, it makes new collagen and tightens the tissue. It works the same way microneedling and radiofrequency do but in a significantly less invasive manner.3

No matter the season, skin type, or skin tone, SofWave provides SUPERB™(Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam) technology, reducing fine lines and wrinkles and elevating the neck, submental, and brow area in one treatment session.1

Benefits of using SofWave

  • Non-invasive and quick

SofWave is not an invasive procedure and is thus suitable for people who lead active lives. After receiving treatment, patients can resume their regular activities right away. The sessions are brief, usually lasting 30 to 60 minutes.1

  • Safe

With its built-in cooling system, Sofcool™, SofWave has a high safety rating. Sofcool™ shields the epidermis while allowing ultrasonic therapy to precisely penetrate the dermis for the best results.1

  • Universally usable

The various light-based therapies are more likely to cause burns on skin types with darker pigmentation. However, ultrasound treatment is secure and efficient regardless of the patient’s skin type.1

Good candidates for SofWave

Typically, people in their thirties and older with slight to moderate ageing skin are suitable candidates for SofWave. An eligible patient should have wrinkles and fine lines to some extent.1 If you are in your twenties, it is also effective as a preventative “prejuvenation” treatment to fend off ageing symptoms.4

Differences between SofWave and Ulthera

The use of focused high-intensity ultrasound is not new. A little more than ten years have passed since Ulthera’s non-surgical face lifting procedures debuted in the cosmetic field in 2009. But since then, technology has advanced rapidly. SofWave can be more efficient than Ulthera in a number of ways, including the fact that it is a faster treatment, more gentle on the skin, and safer with a lower risk of adverse effects.4

It’s also important to note that Ultherapy penetrates deeper than SofWave (up to 4.5mm versus 1.5mm deep, respectively), which targets the tissues in the mid-dermis. As a result,  there is a decreased risk of damaging desirable fat in the face or injuring nerves and muscles in deeper tissue with SofWave treatments.4

Conclusion

SofWave is the newest line of defence against ageing. With technology advancing at unprecedented rates, it’s no wonder these treatments grow more effective and safer with time.
