Revage Treatment: Low-Level Laser Therapy To Fight Hair Loss

Dermatology Clinic, Singapore Hair Transplant Surgery

Hair shedding is a normal occurrence; it’s why finding hair strands in your comb shouldn’t be a cause for concern. In fact, we shed about 50 to 100 hairs daily due to how the hair growth cycle works. But if you start losing an excessive amount of hair, or if you notice they aren’t growing back, this should raise some alarms.

When we think of hair loss, we associate it with strands falling out, hair thinning and the appearance of scalp or bald spots. Hair count and quality can also deteriorate: from being silky smooth to a fragile, brittle state. Regardless, hair loss is distressing and it often results in a significant impact on the individual’s quality of life1.

Using low-level laser therapy for hair loss

So far, hair loss treatments have included medications such as minoxidil and hair transplant surgery. Depending on patient preference and suitability, they can also opt for an alternative: low-level laser therapy (LLLT), where controlled clinical trials have demonstrated its effectiveness in stimulating hair growth in both men and women2.

LLLT is not a newcomer in the laser market – it has been used for over 50 years since the 1960s in various anatomical sites and for a diverse range of medical conditions such as joint pain relief, nerve regeneration and wound healing.

Also referred to photobiology or biostimulation, it is a non-invasive light source treatment that sends pulses of energy into inactive hair follicles. When directed at the targeted area, the light triggers biochemical changes within cells3 to invigorate circulation and stimulation, thus encouraging hair growth.

Introducing the Revage 670 treatment

The Revage 670 Laser is an FDA-approved LLLT treatment that allows for non-surgical hair restoration through Rotational PhotoTherapy (RPT). This can benefit thinning hair experienced by both men and women, especially male and female pattern hair loss.

The device features 30 laser diodes that will rotate around the scalp at 180 degrees while emitting painless cool laser energy to promote stimulation of blood flow to the hair follicles just beneath the balding or thinning scalp. This jumpstarts the dormant hair follicles back into the active growth phase, encouraging cellular and tissue regeneration for stronger and thicker hair shafts.

Who is suitable for Revage 670?

Suitable for both male and female hair loss, Revage 670 caters to a wide profile of patients across all skin types and hair colours. As the laser light works to thicken fine miniaturized hair, it is particularly effective for women with diffuse regions of thinning in the scalp and general weakening of hair.

For men who just started to notice early signs of thinning, they also make good candidates for the Revage 670 to improve hair count and prevent worse balding. Patients who are not suitable to take drug medications or undergo hair transplant surgery may also be recommended for this treatment.

How is the treatment carried out?

For the first 6 weeks, treatments will be administered twice per week. After which, there will be a weekly treatment for the next 16 weeks. Each treatment session takes about 30 minutes.

Periodic maintenance treatment may be required to maintain the benefits of the treatment, as advised by the doctor. With consistent use, you can expect to experience a thicker, healthy head of hair.

What are the benefits of Revage 670?

The Revage 670 laser treatment is non-invasive and painless. There is no downtime involved so you can immediately resume your daily activities after the procedure.

It is also clinically proven with an impressive 85% success rate in halting the progression of hair loss and a 40% increase in improving hair density.

Hair growth is dependent on healthy follicles and an adequate blood supply. With the Revage 670 Laser, blood flow will be stimulated to the hair follicles to help reduce or stop excessive hair shedding. In turn, the benefits in cellular and tissue regeneration will promote optimum hair growth. It can also be combined with other hair loss treatments for the best results in solving hair thinning problems.
